John Washington Forbes was born November 15, 1857.  He was 40 years old, and she was 15 years old, when he married Lula Mable Hamlett in 1898.  Lula, a daughter of James Harrison and Permelia Catherine Oliver Hamlett, was born August 14, 1882 in Halifax County, VA.   They celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary on January 19, 1948.  He died April 16, 1951 in Danville, VA and she died June 24, 1954 in Greensboro, NC.
